Terrestrial India Brown Ale

TERRESTRIAL INDIA BROWN ALE BY WELLINGTON BREWERY

  • STYLE: BROWN ALE
  • ABV: 5.9%
  • COUNTRY: CANADA
  • REGION: GUELPH, ONTARIO
  • BREWERY: WELLINGTON BREWERY

According to Wellington Brewery “Brings together the rich malt complexity of an English brown ale with the refreshing citrus hop bitterness of an American style Cascadian dark ale. A Gold Medal winner at the 2012 Canadian Brewing Awards, this delicious ale is back for winter 2013.”

Appearance | Dark and clear amber with small head.

Smell | Roasted malts and citrus notes.  Hints of spices.

Taste | Rich with pine and citrus notes.  Grapefruit-ish and caramel  Very smooth to drink.  Subtle bitterness at times yet not overpowering.

Aftertaste | Very smooth finish.  Hints of roasted malts with citrus notes.  Doesn’t leave a bitter taste afterwards.

Overall | The perfect beer to sip on a blustery winter day, it was sampled on tap at Baker Street Station during a snowstorm. The subtle spiciness was complemented well by Mother Nature.  This is the first taste of many to come in Welly Re-Booted Series.  Terrestrial India Brown Ale was originally a Welly One-Off that won gold at 2012 Canadian Brewing Awards.

There are extremely limited quantities of Terrestrial India Brown Ale at Wellington Brewery right now.  There may be some pubs that still have it on tap.  http://www.wellingtonbrewery.ca/?p=2920

The fantastic artwork is designed by Guelph illustrator, Gregory Pepper.

This beer isn’t a part of the regular line-up, but it should be.
