Overall |   Happy 29th, Welly! From Wellington Brewery, this is the Winey Crank Cabernet Barrel Aged Wheat Beer.

Released for the big 29th, back in September,  this swing-top bottle pours a hazy light-orange with a creamy white head that settles.   The aroma is similar to a white wine; tart and white grapes.  The aromas are indicative of the taste.   It’s a great use of a wine barrel. It is a great concept on paper but there’s something lacking in the execution. Usually, Wellington isn’t shy about making different styles of beer and can get anybody excited about their Welly One-Off series.   On the verge of sounding like a broken record, the Welly One-Off series has been mediocre as of late.  And not surprisingly, this one is yet another disappointment.
