REVIEW: Plowman’s Ale by Grand River Brewing

  • STYLE: Amber/Red Ale
  • ABV: 4.7%
  • IBU: N/A
  • COUNTRY: Canada
  • REGION: Cambridge, ON
  • BREWERY: Grand River Brewing

Appearance | Hazy copper/red with a off white head that quickly settles.

Smell |Grainy, malts, cereal-ish, grassy, and caramel.

Taste | Malts (toasted as well), hints of hops, grainy, grassy,  earthy, and light spices.

Aftertaste | Dry biscuit finish with hops and malts.

Overall | With the new look of Grand River Brewing, Plowman’s Ale also gets a brand new look as well.   This brew is a light-bodied sessionable Red Ale.  With its bold malt character that balances out with the light notes of hops and spices.  It looks like a medium-bodied brew but you would be surprised.  The 4.7% ABV is hardly noticeable.  It’s a decent beer from Grand River Brewing.

It was bottled on January 28th, 2014.   Gotta love it when they tell you when it was bottled/canned!

Old Review from last year – found this among the backlog of reviews.  I will be revisiting this beer in the near future.
