Well, let’s hope that the second time around will be successful and isn’t cancelled. What am I talking about? Well, I’m a candidate for the Cochlear Implant program. What’s Cochlear Implant? Here’s a little summary to sum it up nice and neatly for you.
A cochlear implant is an electronic medical device that replaces the function of the damaged inner ear. Unlike hearing aids, which make sounds louder, cochlear implants do the work of damaged parts of the inner ear (cochlea) to provide sound signals to the brain.
That’s right, it’s almost like a permanent hearing aid but implanted under the skin of my head by the ear. So my surgery date (originally August 3rd but postponed due to trauma cases) is now August 29th at Sunnybrook in Toronto, Ontario. I would like to mention this because I know there are some folks that takes the time to read this blog or even watch The Beer Program on YouTube. I’m going on a hiatus for a while because the recovery will be a while. My understanding is that I can’t lift anything over 10 pounds for a few weeks (up to four weeks, I heard!)
I’m not sure when I will be back to post reviews or record new episodes of The Beer Program. I’ll keep you all updated on the social media platforms with the progress of the CI project.
So with that, I’ll be posting more reviews before the surgery next Tuesday.
In closing, I would like to thanks all of my family, friends, coworkers, customers, bloggers, and Great Lakes Brewery for the good luck and gifts.
